Successful, Talented, Astonishing, Responsible Students (S.T.A.R.S.)
The S.T.A.R.S. Programme (Successful, Talented, Astonishing, Responsible, Students) at Preston Manor
During 2013-14, we developed the S.T.A.R.S programme for pupils who may benefit from Leadership training. The students are carefully selected by form tutors, DSD’s and Key members of staff who feel a student (future leader) would benefit from this programme. The programme is run by Mr. Carboo and Davis Williams who works for a local charity that supports young people called ‘UnderKonstruction’. For more information please visit (http://www.underkonstruction.org.uk/#!track-record/c3vs)
The group sessions run for one hour per week in Preston Manor and aim to increase the pupils’ leadership skills, motivation, learning, confidence, self-esteem and public speaking/presenting skills. The sessions have a focus on being creative, interactive, thought provoking, challenging, and above all enjoyable. The group work may include educational trips outside school
Students are encouraged to use the S.T.A.R.S. diary whilst on the programme.
