During the 2-hour workshop, 20 students, all with an interest in computer programming or engineering, worked on robot programming, using Lego Mindstorm. They also got an insight into what the Dyson Institute has to offer to students through their 4-year Degree Apprenticeship.

"What I really enjoyed about the workshop was getting the opportunity to practise my programming skills and learn how to solve problems by thinking outside the box" commented Alex Prodhan, our Year 12 student.

Firdaus Beckford added "I was really impressed by Dyson's business model, which ensures that all aspects of the company are managed in-house, so they have managed to create their own distinctive brand of top quality engineering. This even extends to having their own Higher Education Institution."

Danya Walker from Dyson, who led the event, was impressed by our students’ engagement and ability: "The students were very receptive and very enthusiastic.  They all completed the tasks they were set, with some marvellous results. I look forward to coming back to Preston Manor next year."
