National Teen Book Club
The Upper School LRC kicked off its first National Teen Book Club session of the school year on Wednesday 22 January.
Selected students in Year 11, Year 12 and Year 13 had the exciting opportunity to meet Anam Iqbal (via live stream) and learn about her inspiring journey to publishing her debut novel, "The Exes." The book explores the challenges faced by two star-crossed lovers and is deeply influenced by Anam’s experiences as a British Pakistani Muslim woman growing up in London.
Anam also shared insights from her personal life, passions and academic background, including her MSc in Social Anthropology from the University of Oxford, where she studied the identity of British South Asians in modern London.
Outside of writing, she connects with her 40,000+ TikTok followers, sharing her passion for romance novels.
All participants received an extract from her book and a copy of Candice Brathwaites 'Cuts Both Ways' who we will be meeting on Wednesday 26 March.
