Year 6 Summer Read
Every year the whole of Preston Manor engages in a summer read. This is a book selected for a particular message it sends which will resonate with our young people. In the past we have read “Welcome to nowhere” by Elizabeth Laird about one family’s escape from civil war, documenting the plight of refugees. Our summer read last year was “Can you see me?” by Libby Scott. In this book Libby, who is autistic, writes about her own experience transitioning from primary to secondary school. This year, we are asking Year 6 students to read “Go Big” by Matthew Burton. This secondary school survival guide is helpful, funny and encouraging and will support your child in their transition into secondary school.
