Lower School Admissions

Welcome to the Lower School admissions page of our website. We are a 2 form entry school and admit 60 students into each year group - Reception to Year 6.

In-Year Admission

An in-year admission is when you apply to a school outside the normal admissions round for students starting in September. You would normally make an in-year application if you have recently moved, you have arrived from another country, or you want to transfer your child from another school.

Preston Manor School manages our In-Year Admissions. The school keeps a waiting list which is used to fill casual vacancies occurring if students leave during the year or withdraw from a place that has been offered.

Year 7 Transition

Students in Year 6 are automatically offered a place in Year 7 at our Upper School, with a guaranteed place for a September start, unless they apply to another secondary school.

Students currently in Year 6 at our Lower School do not need to apply for a Year 7 place as the transition is automatic to the Upper School.

Preston Manor School will admit up to 60 students to Reception in 2027.

Tuesday 1 September 2026 – Applications open at eAdmissions
Friday 15 January 2027 – Applications deadline
Friday 16 April 2027 - National offer day
Friday 30 April 2027 - Response deadline

Second round of offers

Friday 30 April 2027 – Deadline for applications and changes
Week ending Friday 14 May 2027 – Second round of offers are made
Friday 21 May 2027 - Second round response deadline

Third round of offers

Saturday 29 May 2027 – Deadline for applications and changes
Week ending 18 June 2027 – Third round offers
Friday 25 June 2027 - Third round response deadline
September 2027 – Children start school

Admissions Criteria

Looked after or previously looked after children
A looked-after child or a previously looked after child, including those children who appear to have been in state care outside of England and ceased to be in state care as a result of being adopted.
Children attending infant school
Children attending an infant school on the same site as a junior school (not applicable to Preston Manor School).
Medical or social needs
Exceptional circumstances to do with significant medical needs and/or social needs which necessitate a child's placement at one particular school.
Children of staff
Children whose parent/carer is a member of staff who has been employed at the school and has worked predominantly on the school site for two or more years at the time of application or has been recruited to fill a vacancy for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage.
Siblings
Brothers or sisters of a child who attends the school, or an infant or junior school on the same or adjoining site and who will continue to do so on the date of admission.
