Year 3 Cycle Safety Awareness Training

On Monday 23 June, our Year 3 students had a chance to learn all about road safety.

They had a wonderful time riding all sorts of different bikes around the playground, and they also had a chance to sit in the cab of a large truck! This helped them to understand what blind spots are and why pedestrians and other cars sometimes can't be seen by larger vehicles.

The event was offered through Quintain. Each year the Travel and Transport Coordinator invites a local school to participate in an annual cycling awareness event.
  • Cycle Safety Awareness Training/Demonstration
Delivered by the Met Police Cycle Safety Team, this session is part of the "Exchanging Places" road safety programme. It aims to reduce road danger in line with the Mayor's Vision Zero initiative.

  • Fun Cycle Ride
This session is designed to give students an exciting cycling experience and build their confidence and interest in active travel from an early age.
They provided a fleet of unique bikes for students and teachers to try.
The cycling experience was provided by the charity Everybody Cycling.
